Coach
In 2011, after watching the CrossFit games, I found a nearby CrossFit box, CrossFit Hampton Roads. Having played competitive sports growing up, being a 4x US Military Pentathlon international competitor, and generally thinking I was fairly fit, I thought I’d excel. Boy was I humbled. That’s when I knew there was something more to just running or hitting the gym for my fitness. It was the focus on high intensity functional movement that would change my quality of life in both the short and long term. My eyes were also opened to quality nutrition at this time.
Since then I’ve been fortunate enough to have had excellent mentors, participated in the CrossFit Open a few times and set some personal bests, completed the CrossFit Level 1 Course, and been a part of the camaraderie at multiple CrossFit gyms from Australia to Alaska to Hawaii and multiple other states in the lower 48.
During COVID the owner of CrossFit Northern Exposure (Alaska) opened their box and emptied all their equipment so we could take it home for our own personal “on-loan garage box.” An inspiring example of a great community within this sport.
As a coach, I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of understanding each student and working with them to achieve new goals. No matter age or fitness level I know that incorporating functional fitness is extremely beneficial and I’m am passionate about encouraging the opportunity for others.
